"The Town of Parksley, with assistance from the family of Corporal Jerry C. Burkhead, is installing the PARKSLEY VETERANS MEMORIAL, honoring Corporal Burkhead, and all veterans of Accomack County, who died serving our country in WWI, WWII, The Korean War and The Vietnam War. This memorial will honor our veterans, while
                                                          simultaneously promoting and sharing Parksley's civic
                                                          pride."
