Building a Legacy One Brick at a Time
The NJROTC Armed Forces Memorial Garden was conceived by then Hornet Company
Cadet and BSA Troop 157 Scout Thomas Newcomb (HHS class of 2022) as his Eagle
Scout Project. Originally a simple concrete monument, plain brick edging, a
picnic table, and plantings, the garden has grown in size and complexity.
In 2024 Herndon HS NJROTC celebrated its 40th year at Herndon High school. We
wanted to have a visual representation on the outside of the school of those
Cadets and community members who have helped the program succeed at the school
and make lasting affects on their lives. The boosters want to celebrate all
those who have been involved and made the Unit thrive and positively change the
lives of the cadets who enter the program.
Thank you to all who order bricks. They will be added to the memorial garden
each Spring.
