Saving Johnstown's History One Brick At A Time
At present we own and operate a Museum on North William Street, Johnstown, New York, which is celebrating this year, its 125th anniversary. We also own the Drumm House, the sole surviving example of six cottages built by Sir William Johnson, the founder of our city. This particular cottage was built in the 18th century for the city's first school master. The Society has also taken possession of the James Burk Inn on South William Street. This Colonial era Inn has served for many years as the "Chapter House" for the Daughters of the American Revolution in Johnstown.
Both the Drumm House and the Burk Inn need serious repairs and renovation in order to preserve them. Funds raised will be used to make these repairs and to safeguard the properties for future generations.
